1st - 12th – Getting Edgy at the Jacksonville Center

Artists exhibiting at the Jacksonville Center for the Arts’ Hayloft Gallery were challenged to push the boundary, take a risk, and define on the edge. Free, donations welcomed. 2nd – Jazz

4th – Annual Floyd 4th of July Celebration

4th & 5th – Floyd Fandango Beer and Wine Festival

This year Floyd Fandango and Wine Down the Music Trail have been combined for a one-of-a-kind experience! JJ Grey & Mofro and Buckwheat Zydeco will be among the bands playing as you sample great Virginia wines and exciting microbrewery beers in the breathtaking setting of the Blue Ridge Mountains. 11th – Windfall at the Oak Grove Pavilion

Windfall will entertain under the stars at the Oak Grove Pavilion. Spnsored by Skin Solutions and WRG Farms. 11th – Black Dog Festival

The Black Dog Festival series continues to bring great music to the cool mountains this July. Thereâ s no place better to lay your blanket than across the green hills of the winery lawns. Bring your dancing shoes, sunglasses and prepare for a relaxing fun-filled afternoon. You keep asking for her, so we brought the Allison King Band back to our July blues stage, and added headliner, Eric Lindell whose smoky voice and jamming jive will bring you to your feet for certain! A day of music and festivity. Two musical acts will perform on the festival stage from 1 am â 5 pm. Tickets $15 in advance on line or by phone; $20 at the Gate. Designated driver $15. 16th – Neva Bryan

Neva Bryan will read excerpts from St. Peter's Monsters, a novel set in the Appalachian Mountains at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library. 7:00 pm


18th – Relay for Life

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life will run from 10 a.m.- midnight at the Floyd County High School. 721 Baker Street (Baker Street is just off State Road 8 downtown)


18th – Art Auction with Ken Farmer

The Jacksonville Center has issued a Call to Artists to participate in its Second Annual Live Art Auction with Ken Farmer. The deadline for submission of digital images for consideration is May 1st. This year’s event on July 18 will feature a jury of gallery owners and managers to select quality work that will be presented to a buying audience of arts appreciators and Jacksonville Center supporters. Food and beverages will be served at the evening auction event, and all participating artists are encouraged to attend, and take advantage of artist-only discounted admission ticket prices. 220 Parkway Lane South (State Rd 8 just south of downtown towards the Blue Ridge)

18th – Two Local Bluegrass Bands at Oak Grove Pavilion

The 2009 Town of Floyd 5K Run will be for a good cause. Proceeds will benefit Trails in Floyd, the campaign to establish recreational trails in our scenic county. 8:30 a.m. More information to follow.

The Friday Night Jamboree

The Friday Night Jamboree

The famous Friday Night Jamboree is held at the Floyd Country Store, downtown. The show starts every Friday at 6:30pm with an hour of bluegrass gospel music. At 7:30pm, dancers hit the floor, flatfooting and clogging to the music of regional Bluegrass or Old-Time bands. The music and dancing continues until at least 10:30pm. If the crowd is willing, at 10:30pm one of the jamming groups that can be found picking outside or upstairs in the store will play for the crowd until around 11:30pm. | map
